We are hiring our first full-time engineer. You will take day-to-day ownership of work that currently sits with our founder, which means real responsibility from the start and close mentoring from someone who teaches web application security and reviews research for IEEE and Springer Nature.
What you will work on
A mobile app already in use
You will maintain it and fix bugs. This is an existing codebase, so most of the work is reading code you did not write, reproducing problems carefully and fixing them without breaking anything else.
One of our own products
You will build supporting features and tooling alongside our founder, who owns the core architecture. Everything you write here is reviewed. We sell certification, so our own engineering is the proof.
What we need from you
React Native
You can find your way around an existing app and ship fixes.
Python and PostgreSQL
You can build and change backend features with confidence.
The ability to read unfamiliar code
This matters more to us than any framework. Most of the job is understanding something someone else built before changing it.
Care with other people's data
Some of the systems you will work on hold sensitive personal information. You will work with anonymised data, and we expect you to take that seriously.
Useful, but we can teach you: React on the web, Docker, and writing about your work.
You do not need a computer science degree. You do need to show us code you have written and talk us through decisions you made.

Taught, not just reviewed
Every change you make is read by someone senior. You will learn to secure what you build, and how work gets planned and shipped, rather than being left to guess at either.
Range you rarely get this early
We build our own products, engineer systems for clients and run research. You will touch all three rather than one small part of one system.
Work that people actually use
Nothing here is a practice project. The systems you maintain are in production, and the bugs you fix affect real people.
What we do not offer
- We are a small team. There is no large engineering organisation around you, and no fixed career ladder yet.
- Our salary is below what a strong Nigerian developer can earn from remote foreign contracts. We know that. Mentoring and ownership are what we offer instead.
- We are early. Some things are not written down yet, and you will help write them.

A paid trial task
A few hours of real work, paid at the equivalent hourly rate. We will give you a genuine bug in a codebase you have not seen. We are interested in how you investigate it and what you ask, not only the fix.
An offer
With a written contract. We tell you where you stand at every stage, including if the answer is no.
